2025 has been an auspicious year for us as it marks the centennial of the date our beautiful tower was built—a milestone we’ve commemorated by displaying a large golden oval with the number 100, which is clearly visible throughout Avalon.

We have now completed Phase I of our goals: the complete restoration of the tower, its buttresses and perimeter walls, and the many components of the instrument itself, including strikers, chimes, and their century-old mechanism and support structure. We have also been able to add new site infrastructure, hand-forged ironwork, and tower lighting.

In 2025, we also began surrounding the building with native and Catalina-friendly landscaping and created a viewing terrace where visitors will enjoy relaxing while taking in Avalon’s panoramic views and learning more about the Chimes Tower.

We are now turning our focus to increasing visitor access and safety. Hundreds of hikers, cyclists, and groups in rental golf carts stop to view the Chimes Tower every day. Our plans include creating safe zones on this stretch of Chimes Tower Road, such as designated walking paths along the ocean side and onto the Chimes Terrace, parking for golf carts, and a tour bus pullout, among other features.

Please help us continue with improvements like these, which create excitement and encourage ongoing support from a wider audience. Consider adopting a Chime or Saving a Striker to ensure a lifetime of care for the note of your choice (or choose both to fully care for a Chime and its very own Striker).

There is also an informational sign at the entrance of the Chimes Tower offering deeper insight into its history and significance. Passersby can simply scan the QR Code to make a gift on the spot, using Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and Venmo, or opt for periodic recurring donations to help guarantee the continuing preservation of the structures and bells.
